非公式分校は、日本にはマネジメントが足りないとテキサス大学マコームズMBAスクールの卒業生が中心となって立ち上げた営利・非営利団体のリーダー達のための相互研鑽のためのカジュアルな勉強会です。

今回はいつものディスカッション形式ではなく、拡大版として株式会社ライロ代表取締役社長でCIプロデューサーとして数多くの企業のCI導入を手がけてきた田辺眞一氏をお迎えし、「コーポレートCI手法のコミュニティCIへの活用」に関する講演と田辺氏を交えたフリーディスカッションという形式で行います。

初めまして。リーダーシップチームの中ノ森です。

皆様もお気づきの事かと存じますが、Net Impactの日本での活動は、現在危機的状況にあります。現在、小職を除き、すべてのリーダーシップチームのメンバーは個人的事情により活動から手を引いてしまいました。

個人的には、折角、日本でも立ち上がりかけていたNet Impactの活動をここで途絶えさせてしまうこと、米国を中心とするNet Impactのネットワークや情報資産と日本とを結ぶ手段をなくしてしまうのはもったいないと考えており、改めて、日本でのNet Impactの活動の運営チームを組成したいと考えております。

具体的にどのような活動をするのかも含めて、新しい運営チームのメンバーと協議して決めていきたいと考えていますが、

1. Net Impactのコンセプトの「ビジネスを通じて社会により良いインパクトを与える」とコンセプトを共有する活動であればあまり限定せずに取り組んでいきたいと考えています

2. Net Impactが有するCSR、ソーシャル・アントレプレナーシップ、NPO経営、途上国開発、環境サステナビリティ等の豊富な情報を活用するのも一つの方法です

3. まったく活動のベースがない訳ではなく、「ビジネスを通じて社会により良いインパクトを与える」活動の一つとして、マネジメント手法について自己研鑽、日本に普及させるための有志での勉強会、MBA非公式分校（ https://www.insightnow.jp/communities/id/79 ）を開催しています。こうした小活動を束ねて、Net Impact Japanとしての活動としていくというのも一つの方向性と考えています。

上記何れかの活動を推進していきたいという方は、小職宛( knakanomori@samuraisourcing.com ）に興味がある旨ご一報頂けますでしょうか？

恐らく東京になるかと思いますが、ご興味があるご連絡を頂いた方を集めて、今後の方向性につき打ち合わせするミーティングを開催する予定ですので、よろしくお願い申し上げます。

Net Impact Centralでも日本の運営が苦しい状況にある事を懸念していますが、この運営チームの梃子入れを見守る共に、必要な支援があれば言ってくれと言われています。よって、活動の方向性さえ明確になれば、Net Impactのネットワークや情報資産の活用も図れると考えております。

ここでなんとかNet Impactの日本での活動に道筋をつけたいと考えておりますので、より多くの方々からご協力を賜りたく、よろしくお願い申し上げます。

Hello. I am Kay Nakanomori of Net Impact Tokyo Chapter Leadership Team.
As you may notice, Net Impact's activities in Japan are in dire situation. It is due to our leadership team's responsibility. Unfortunately, all other leadership team members are gone except me.

Personally, it is easy to close the chapter but it is a huge loss to abandon all the past efforts to start a Net Impact's local chapter here, Net Impact's global network and knowledge. Thus, I'd like to give a try to re-organize the leadership team in Japan.

Since Net Impact Tokyo Chapter has been a new organization and did not have specific activities, I'd like to discuss the organization direction and activities with the new leadership team. Here are some examples what Net Impact Japan would pursue;

1.Activities sharing the concept with the Net Impact's "Make a positive impact on society by growing and strengthening new leaders who use business to improve the world"

2.Activities related to CSR, social entrepreneurship, NPO management, tackling poverty, sustainability and so on, utilizing Net Impact's global resources

3.There is a small activity base. I organize a study group called "Unofficial MBA program（ https://www.insightnow.jp/communities/id/79 ）" where participants refine their business acumen each other in order to prevalent management skills to Japan for improving Japanese society. I think that accumulating these small activities is one of the way of Net Impact Japan.

Once I have some group of people who are interested in the leadership them, I'll set up a meeting to discuss the course of Net Impact Japan.

Net Impact Central shares our local dire situation and concerns. They are patiently waiting for this revitalizing effort and offer helps. Thus, if we get through this and clarify what we will do, we can utilize Net Impact's global network and resources.

I hope that Net Impact Japan finds the new leadership team and re-energize its activities from now on. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Greetings to all! My name is Freda and I am the VP of Marketing & Communications for this organization. My initial interest in wanting to connect with other people who share the same belief in making a more positive impact in the business world has led me to become one of the leaders serving the Tokyo Professional Chapter of Net Impact.

The last Net Impact event, Green Leaders Forum #2: Green Media & Web2.eco was another amazing event with over 100 people participating in this ground-breaking bilingual event. We had a number of additional members who signed up to the Net Impact Tokyo Professional Chapter, which continues to expand. Remember, membership is only $10 or 1000 yen so please help to spread the word! :)

2. Event: Keio University Business School Sustainability Initiatives/Net Impact Tokyo Leaders Meeting

We are pleased to invite all Net Impact members to join us for a roundtable discussion on Thursday, April 15, where Keio University Business School students will present on their initiatives regarding sustainability promotion. Hear what some of the top MBA school students in Tokyo are doing to promote sustainable business activities.

After the presentation/discussion for the first hour, Net Impact Leaders will hold a regular leaders meeting. Members are encouraged to join and voice their opinions on future initiatives for Net Impact.

*Most of the failures why business schools and corporations have been slow to incorporate sustainable practices into their curriculum and business plans are due to a lack of education.

*One of the ways to incorporate sustainability into the job is to first get to know your company and job well. Second, bring sustainability into their own jobs or find sustainability opportunities within their own companies. The author suggested to look at what kinds of sustainability-related programs and opportunities your company already provides. If there ren't, start them.

*Proper presentation of sustainability-related projects and strategies is crucial in order to gather initial and continued support in the company.

*Sustainability will increasingly become the standard of how businesses of all sizes operate around the world.

全てのネットインパクトメンバーを、4月15日（木）、慶応ビジネススクールの学生がBusiness sustainabilityについてのプレゼンをしてくださるラウンドテーブルに、ご招待します。国内トップビジネススクールとして評判の高いKBSの学生たちが、持続可能なビジネスについてどのようなことを考えているか、ぜひ一緒にお話を聞いてみましょう！

1時間のプレゼンとディスカッションの後、ネットインパクトリーダーチームは、定例のリーダーチームミーティングを行います。ネットインパクトメンバーの皆さんも参加していただき、今後のネットインパクト東京の活動について、ぜひ皆さんの声を反映させてください。

*Most of the failures why business schools and corporations have been slow to incorporate sustainable practices into their curriculum and business plans are due to a lack of education.

*One of the ways to incorporate sustainability into the job is to first get to know your company and job well. Second, bring sustainability into their own jobs or find sustainability opportunities within their own companies. The author suggested to look at what kinds of sustainability-related programs and opportunities your company already provides. If there ren't, start them.

*Proper presentation of sustainability-related projects and strategies is crucial in order to gather initial and continued support in the company.

*Sustainability will increasingly become the standard of how businesses of all sizes operate around the world.

John will make a short presentation around 9PM to share with you some of the latest developments with Room to Read and together we'll honor the magic of books and the power of literacy in a really fun way.

John was recently named by Barron's Magazine as one of the world's top philanthropists (#11) along with others you may know such as Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Magic Johnson, Brad Pitt, etc. and his message about childhood literacy is eye-opening and inspiring.

Speaking of literacy, we'll be creating a lot of books on the night for kids. In addition to celebrating the 1st year since the launch of Beers for Books, we also estimate we might even break the 50,000 book mark (with your help ;-)) at the event.

For those of you new to Beers for Books, the concept is simple: For every drink you have, 100 yen will be donated to Room to Read and that buys a treasured book for children via Room to Read.

Room to Read is an amazing NPO whose mission is to provide quality educational opportunities to children in developing countries with the goal of empowering kids via literacy. Room to Read has projects in 9 countries in Asia and Africa including Nepal, Cambodia, Zambia, etc. For more details see www.roomtoread.org or in Japanese www.roomtoread.jp.

Hope you are enjoying the start of summer...even though the weather is a bit gray and rainy recently.

In this issue of our June newsletter, we will discuss recent events and also remind you of our next upcoming event, which is on Thursday June 18th at the Pink Cow!

1) Past events

Thanks to everyone who came out to our last event on Organic and Sustainable Wines, held at the Pink Cow on Monday, May 18. This event was held in conjunction with Orca International, a company specializing in importing and spreading the word about fine Pacific Northwestern wines. Drawings were held and the winners won bottles of Orca's fine wines. We hope that you were able to learn more about organic and sustainable wines while meeting new people in a fun and relaxed setting.

2) Upcoming events

Please join us on Thursday, June 18th for our joint event with Beers for Books taking place at the Pink Cow. Beers for Books is a fundraising project that supports the non-profit organization Room to Read. Beers for Books is a fundraising concept to support Room to Read's local language publishing program. Drink a beer, create a treasured book for a child. Beers for Books holds networking events at bars around the Kanto area (and across the world!) where the participating bar will generously help support contributions to Room to Read.

3) Introducing Japan For Sustainability

この6月号では、最近のイベントに関するレポートと6月18日（木曜日）にピン
ク・カウで実施する次のイベントについてご紹介いたします。

1)過去のイベント

5月18日の月曜日、ピンク・カウにおいてオーガニック＆サステイナブル・ワイ
ンに関するイベントを行い、たくさんの方にご参加いただきました。ありがとう
ございます。このイベントは質の高いパシフィック・ノースウェスタン・ワイン
を輸入販売し、その魅力を日本に伝えているオルカ・インターナショナルとの協
力のもと開催されました。会場では抽選会が行われ、当選者にはオルカから素晴
らしいワインが提供されました。楽しくリラックスした雰囲気で他の参加者と語
らい、オーガニック＆サステイナブル・ワインに関する知識と理解を深めて頂け
たことと思います。

2)今後のイベント

6月18日の木曜日にピンク・カウにおいて「Beers for Books」とのジョイント・
イベントを開催します。Beers for Booksは非営利団体「Room to Read's」の
ローカル・ランゲージ・パブリッシング・プログラムを支援する募金運動プロ
ジェクトです。Beers for Booksのコンセプトは「ビールを飲んで子供達に本を
提供しよう」というものです。このようなBeers for Booksのネットワーキン
グ・イベントは主に関東地域の（そして世界中の）Room to Read'sの趣旨に賛同
するバーにおいて開催されています。

Wine Tasting & Talk: Organic & Sustainable Wines

What does it mean when a wine is labeled “organic”? What is the difference between an organic and sustainable wine? Are there any sacrifices in quality of the wines produced? And why are organic and sustainable wines sometimes surprisingly affordable? For answers to these questions and more, come to this cocktail reception and talk to learn about and experience organic and sustainable wines.

Speaker: Jeff Renshaw, President and Founder, Orca International

Orca International founder Jeff Renshaw's family owns and operates a small winery in Washington State. With close personal ties to the Pacific Northwest wine industry and head start in pioneering the region's wines in Japan, Orca represents many of the very top wineries from Oregon and Washington.

Tasting Notes for the Wine Selection

1) Snoqualmie Cabernet Sauvignon ’05: Showcasing pure varietal character and terroir, this Cabernet displays intense cherry and current like fruit aromas mingled with rosemary and sage tones. The fresh fruit flavors are accented by ample structure and burst on the palate followed by subtle sweet oak and soft round tannin.
2) Snoqualmie Merlot ’06: Showcasing the varietal characteristics and terroir of the Columbia Valley, this Merlot bursts with aromas of dark black cherry fruit, clove spice and sweet oak, followed on the palate by bright acidic structure and luscious, round tannins.
3) Snoqualmie Chenin Blanc ’07: The nose exhibits aromas of melon and pear with hints of ripe lemon. These flavors follow on the palate with a bright, fruit-forward finish. Serve with cheese or a spicy seafood entrée.

4) Snoqualmie Naked Gewurztraminer ’07: Orange blossom and spice aromas are complimented by a refreshingly crisp and juicy mouthful of fruit flavor. This wine has decidedly pure impressions of fully mature Gewurztraminer grapes with slight mineral characters of the terroir.

5) Sokol Blosser Pinot Gris ’07: Fresh pear, fig and citrus aromas and flavors combine with hints of minerals and spice in this polished, medium bodied wine. The wine is crisp and fresh, yet has a round lush texture.

6) King Estate Pinot Noir Singnature Series ’06:
Color: Bright garnet with ruby tint clarity and brilliance.
Aroma: Bing cherry, raspberry, confectionary strawberry, slight floral, spice, and currant.
Flavors: Plum, bing cherry, currant, light hints of vanilla, black pepper, oak, and caramel.
Mouthfeel: Soft, elegant entry, firm tannins midway, lingering finish.

Ken Ito, one of our Net Impact Tokyo members will organize
a speaker session on this saturday.

It's a speaker session by Britt Yamamoto who is a professor from
Center for Creative Change in Antioch University in Seattle.

Center for Creative Change is a master degree program focused in Social Change.
Core courses are below and students eventually learn such as System Thinking,
Reflective Practicuma and Critical Inquiry.

- Organizational Psychology
- Strategic Communication
- Whole Systems Design

Mr. Britt also operates a nonprofit organization called "iLeap" (http://www.ileap.org/nihongo/SIIS)
which provides summer program in seattle including study session and internship.

It will be wonderful opportunity for people who are willing to
learn about what's happening in education world in the US on the topic of Social Innovation.
